Do your kids trigger you?As a parent, your children’s behaviours can provoke strong feelings or…

So…I’ve been keeping a secret. A big one. I WROTE A BOOK!!! I’ve spent years writing this book but honestly? This book was waiting to be written long before I knew what it would even be about. Ever since I was a little girl, I always knew I’d one day write a book (I didn’t know what about,) but I was certain. I was always either getting lost in worlds or worries, writing has been my outlet long before I knew how to spell half the words on my page.
Mastering My Messy Life is not just another memoir… It’s a human one. Written mid-mess, mid-figuring it out.
Inside, I share what I never have online ( as an oversharer, that’s saying something). From a chaotic childhood shaped by trauma, binge drinking, heartbreak, and anxiety… To the tangled mess of ADHD, body image, and being a multi-passionate woman told to “just pick one thing.” To motherhood, grief, and rebuilding myself.
This is the story behind the posts. The parts I’ve never said out loud.
Until now.
This book is a love letter to every woman who has ever felt like she was too much, or not enough, or somehow both at once.
If you’re expecting a book that’s polished and perfect with zero swear words.. this isn’t it (and clearly you don’t know me, but you will!). I wrote this exactly how real life is… questionably honest, chaotic at times… tangents and dark humour guaranteed. Writing this book ripped me wide open, and honestly pushed me further than I humanly thought possible (let’s not talk about my Uber eats bill). It made me return to the chapters of my life I’d rather forget and parts of myself I wasn’t sure I wanted to see again.
But somewhere in those torn edges and missing pages, when I finally pieced them together- I found a story worth telling. A message that needed to be shared.
To the people who have always felt separate,
To those who feel as though everyone but you received the roadmap,
To the black sheep,
To the ones burnt-out from being ‘on’ all the time,
And to the people who feel as though the world has always spun too fast and you could never quite catch up… this one’s for you.
This book has been one giant exhale. But it was a full-body sigh after years of holding it all in. Years of people-pleasing. Of shrinking. Of rushing through my life, thinking I would be worthy if I just did this one more thing. But it doesn’t work like that, it just turns your life into a race you never entered in the first place.
This is not a ‘how I got my act together’ story. It’s a ‘how I turned my mess into magic’ story.
My book is available for presale now! *Does a nervous poo* And officially hits the shelves 4th November, 2025… Oh and did I mention it’s being published by PENGUIN (surreal doesn’t even cover it).
PS: Thank you to this community who has been with me through some of my favourite chapters. This book is for you.
Love, Steph the Mess
